Kogarashi means the "cold wind that lets us know of the arrival of winter", in Japanese. We think the name is apt for this piece, as the fabric it is dominated by the color white, reminisce of a white winter. Although... the square repeat pattern is thoughtfully done so that the edges of the pattern are slightly softened making this geometry pattern more welcoming. This particular piece is manifested from using the shape resist Itajime Shibori technique.
The word shibori comes from the root word shiboru which means "to wring, squeeze, and press". This technique has been used from many years ago to create a wide variety of patterns on fabric. Because it is done by hand, every finished piece is one of a kind. So, slight difference in each piece is to be expected and with all shibori dyed pieces, as imperfection are what makes these pieces perfect :)
Kogarashi is beautiful and cool to the eyes. This will be a great pairing for jeans! :)
